Hi Georgia! Where are you from?

I was born in Texas. My father was in the army growing up, so I lived on an army base.

How did you get into skincare?

I have always loved all things beauty and then when I discovered I could help people and stay in the realm of beauty, I was all for it. I’ve been doing this for five years and it’s just the best.

What is your favorite part of working with skin every day?

Extractions! Oh man, I love doing extractions.

In the five years that you've been working on skin, do you have any advice you wish all clients would take?

Wash your face with cooler water. Hot water dehydrates you, makes your skin redder, and makes dark spots darker. The body loves hot water, of course, but the skin on your face isn’t as thick and it is really susceptible to changes in heat. Just give it a shot, it doesn’t have to be COLD water, just colder. It also feels great in the morning, a nice wake-up jolt.

Is there a part of the conversation about the relationship between lifestyle and skin that you think is missing?

Yeah, you are what you eat! The older I get the more I really know that it is really true. If you eat junk, 9 times out of 10 it shows up on your face. But junk food is so good, so you have to find balance! Like right now, I want a taco and will probably get one for lunch. But I know what it will do, so I have to really make it worth my time.

Bless tacos. Is a product or ingredient that you think more people should use?

Hydration is key for all skin types, no matter what condition you have. You should always build your routine around how to keep your skin regularly hydrated.

If you had a chance to tell a possible client one thing about you before booking with you, what would it be?

Be ready to relax and receive some education! I love to teach.

Speaking of teaching, there is so much information out there on skincare, how to do you keep yourself educated so you can educate your clients?

I’m so old school, I love reading books about skincare. I’m subscribed to a lot of different skincare lines and as part of the esthetician skin community, I get a lot of newsletters. I try to keep an eye on everything. I love trade shows, they’re super educational. Also, I’d take any class I can. I’m always looking to learn more and be better.

What topic in skincare could you just talk about for forever?

The importance of hydration and moisture, because you have to have a perfect balance of it. That balance is the key to healthy skin and without it, you won’t be able to see real results.

What are three things that you like that don't have to do with skin?

  • Drinking wine, I love wineries.
  • I love hot yoga, even if you just go and lay there for the whole class. It is the best.
  • I love sleeping, sleeping is so important. Penelope Cruz says she sleeps 12 hours a day and she still looks like she did when she was 27, so she gets it.
