Q+A With Evan G., Tribeca

What inspired you to become a Skin Therapist?

“When I was younger, I struggled with acne and spent too much time trying to cover it and make it worse with aggressive products. It’s my passion to help others find solutions that will allow them to feel at peace with the appearance of their skin.”

What's your favorite part of what you do as a Heyday Skin Therapist?

“At Heyday, everything that happens in a facial is a choice between the Skin Therapist and the client. I like to make conscious decisions based on what I’m seeing and feeling with the skin and work with my client to help them achieve their skin goals.”

Do you have a favorite enhancement to perform?

“I like to do a combo of gua sha and LED. They work really well synergistically to target a number of concerns from acne to anti-aging. Gua sha is a soothing and relaxing form of massage that also functions as lymphatic drainage to help move toxins away from the face that could be causing issues within the skin. It also temporarily tones muscle to help better support the skin. LED increases blood flow which can stimulate collagen and elastin production, but also promote healing of the skin and reduce inflammation. This combo is great for anyone experiencing conditions like inflamed breakouts because it provides preventative and immediate care.”

What is your all-time favorite product?

One Love Organics Botanical B Enzyme Cleansing Oil. It’s super important to do a double cleanse every night to remove both oil- and water-based impurities. But this cleanser also has enzymes to get inside the pores and digest dead skin and debris to help with congestion! I use it every single night before my gel cleanser and recommend it to every client.

And, Moon Juice Acid Potion. Chemical exfoliation is preferable to physical exfoliation for at-home use because there’s a lot of room to be too harsh with a physical exfoliant. Physical exfoliants also work on the surface of the skin while chemical exfoliants work on deeper layers to clear and prevent issues that can show up. This product has a great blend of acids, and my favorite ingredient: Niacinamide! The product works to gently exfoliate and brighten the skin while still protecting the moisture barrier.

Image Prevention+ Moisturizer SPF 50. This is a really awesome SPF for anyone who is looking for a multitasking product. It can sometimes feel daunting to add yet another step to our morning routine to apply SPF, but this kind of product makes it easy. The sun protection in this product is nice and high at SPF 50 and contains mixed filters including both chemical and mineral filters. This is providing sun protection in different forms and from different angles.”

It’s your last 24 hours in NYC — how are you spending the day?

I would want to go to brunch at my favorite place down in Brooklyn Heights and walk through DUMBO with my friends and my dog. We might go shopping around in Manhattan for a bit. Eventually, we’d stop for ice cream before heading home for a wholesome game night with movies and music.

What 3 words would your friends use to describe you?

Determined, quirky, supportive
