Clear Cell Salicylic Clarifying Tonic

The Lowdown

This tonic is a great alternative for those looking for a dermatologist-strength salicylic acid product without the irritation. It is a treatment, not a toner. As a swipe-on exfoliant, it's excellent for active breakout because the ingredients do the work without manual abrasion. But, it also houses calming ingredients, making it active and direct, but gentle enough for skin under stress. A great choice to help clarify skin before bed.

Many products, like this one, can be used as an overnight spot treatment on a blemish to help dry it out and move it along quicker. Pack a small container and keep it in your toiletry bag for your emergency zit kit when traveling.

We recommend this for

If you're acne or breakout prone.

They match the powerhouse ingredients with a lot of anti-inflammatories, so you're not just hitting your skin with power, but you're calming as well. You need to kill bacterial and then rebuild your skin.

How we use it

Post-nighttime cleansing and before moisturizing, use a little bit of this product on a cotton pad or ball and swipe gently across face as needed. Make sure to appropriately hydrate afterwards. This tonic can also be used as a spot treatment. Just remember less is more, too much can make angry blemishes angrier.

What to expect

The water in the base of this product makes it a quick-drying solution so don't feel like you need to use more to get a "wet feeling."

This is the perfect spot treatment. It treats the pimple for what it is — an inflammatory infection. It gives you something to do other than pick. Just plop it right on the spot and let it take place of your popping moment. It’s also a great size bottle for targeted zit treatments.

Back of the Bottle

  • Salicylic Acid

Salicylic Acid, widely referred to as a Beta Hydroxy Acid and considered a drug by the FDA, exfoliates dead skin cells and penetrates into the follicles, seeking out oil (sebum) and decreasing its secretion, making it a common ingredient in acne-fighing formulas. ✋

  • Witch Hazel

Derived from the leaves of the Hamamelis Virginiana shrub, Witch Hazel extract has been found to have skin-cleansing, toning, anti-irritating, and soothing properties.

  • Tea Tree

Steam-distilled from the Australian native plant Melaleuca alternifolia, Tea Tree Essential Oil has antimicrobial, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a popular ingredient for products suited for oily and breakout-prone skin. 🍃
