FAQ

Booking

How do I book an appointment?

We can't wait to meet you! To book an appointment, you can either book an appointment online or call the studio location you're interested in.

Where is Heyday located?

Heyday has locations all across the United States. To look us up by state, visit here.

Why do you need my credit card before my appointment?

Your card will only be charged after your facial. However, we keep it on file in case of no-shows or late cancellations (10 minutes after your appointment start time). If you are a member or have a gift card, your credit card will only be charged for any remaining balance after your benefit or gift card has been applied to your service.

What are Heyday's hours?

Each studio has different hours, most of which can be found here, or by Google search.

How do I change or cancel an appointment?

If it's more than 24 hours before your appointment, you can cancel or adjust your time slot by logging in to our website or by calling the studio where you booked. If it's within 24 hours of your appointment, please give us a call at the studio where you booked. Please note that in this case, we have a $25 cancellation and no-show fee. You can view our full Product & Service Policies here.

How far in advance should I book a facial?

You can book as far in advance as your schedule allows! We recommend booking in advance if you'd like to request a specific Esthetician or are looking for an evening or weekend appointment (our most popular times). But, we also accept walk-ins based on availability.

Do you have a facial referral program?

We do! Refer your friends for $40 off their first Heyday facial. You’ll receive $20 in your account once your friend gets their first facial, and another $20 if they join as a member. You must first sign up to get a unique link to share with your friends, and ask them to use your link to get a promo code to use when booking their facial. Learn more and get started on our Refer A Friend webpage here.

How can I redeem my gift card?

Both digital and physical gift cards can be redeemed online or in-studio for products and facials. If used for a facial, we require a credit card when booking an appointment, but you will not be charged at the time of booking. Simply bring your gift card with you to your facial and it will be applied at check-out after your appointment.

If you're interested in becoming a member, you may use a gift card towards your first membership payment, but a valid credit or debit card is required for all future monthly payments.

How do I book a group appointment?

For groups of 4 or more, please contact the studio you’re interested in visiting, to discuss availability. Or you can also contact us at hello@heydayskincare.com.

Why are your prices different by location?

In order to best support our studio teams and customers (you!), our pricing is relative to the cost of doing business in each region. This helps us to pay our staff competitively and keep our high standard of service in every shop across the country.

Facials

What should I do (or avoid) before my facial?

We're so excited to be your first facial! You don't need to do too much to prepare. During the few days beforehand, don't do any heavy exfoliation, peels, waxing, or other procedures. While we don't use steamers, beware that any false lashes or microbladed eyebrows can be affected by a facial. For those with a beard or other facial hair, try not to shave three days leading up to your facial. The only other thing to do is just be open and honest with your Esthetician about what treatments you've done, what your goals are, and what products you use at home. There is no shame in any answer and your honesty helps us craft the best treatment for you.

How often should I get a facial?

One facial can get great results, but where you can really see (and feel) a huge difference is with regular treatments. We recommend getting facials once a month as on average, skin cells turn over about every 28 days.

What type of enhancements (add-on services to a facial) do you offer?

We currently offer 9 different Enhancements: LED Light Therapy, Gua Sha, Professional Peel ($50 each), as well as Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion, Nano Infusion, Hydro Wand Infusion, Soothing Scalp Revival, Dermaplaning, and Microcurrent ($80 each). Enhancements are 50% off for our monthly members! You can chat with your Esthetician about these at your appointment to determine which is right for you, you do not have to book them in advance, although you can if you wish. Please note, Enhancements do not add additional time for your service. Not all Enhancements are available at all studios; please contact your local studio for more details. Learn more about our Enhancement options here.

Can I get a facial while pregnant or nursing?

Our facials are safe for clients who are pregnant or nursing, as all of our Estheticians are trained on which ingredients and modalities to avoid according to our standards. However, since every body and every doctor’s recommendations are different, please speak to your physician for their specific guidelines. When booking, make sure to include your doctor’s notes (i.e. which ingredients they may have advised you to steer clear of) and any ingredients you personally would like to avoid, as well.

What is the New-Client Intake Form and do I have to fill it out before my appointment?

The form tells us important information about your skin history and your preferences during your facial, in order to deliver the best experience and the most customized service possible. Though you can fill it out when you arrive for your appointment, we highly recommend you fill it out online in advance, so that when you arrive we can check you in, show you the studio, make you comfortable and maximize the time you have with your Esthetician.

Can I get a facial if I have a cold sore?

Not until the scab has fully shed and the skin behind it has healed. Whether it's an active or healing cold sore, the movements of facial massage can actually exacerbate the lesion, or cause it to spread to the eye area. Both are a pretty serious risk, which is why Estheticians practice under these specific guidelines. If you have a sore currently, you'll want to continue your regimen at home and bump up hydration, so your skin is ready to go for your next treatment.

Are your products cruelty-free?

Definitely. We're a team of animal lovers and don't support testing on animals. Every brand we stock is cruelty-free and some are also Leaping Bunny certified: Naturopathica and Ursa Major, just to name a couple of them.

How are you different from other facial shops or spas?

First and foremost, we're not a spa. You're more likely to hear Stevie Nicks here than pan flutes, and there's no need to change into a robe. However, we encourage you to get cozy and slip off your shoes if you'd like. Plus, each studio is intentionally designed with a semi-open layout. This way, you're free to to chat with and learn from your Esthetician, but still relax and enjoy some you-time.

What services do you offer?

All Heyday studios offer The Essential Facial - a 50 minute experience - that’s personalized for each client. Some studios also offer The Elite Laser Facial and First Time Laser Facial. Visit here to find studios that offer these facials. Every studio also offers a menu of Enhancements which are add-on services to your facial and come at an additional cost. You can chat with your Esthetician at the beginning of your facial to determine the best services for your personalized service!

Our facials are priced from $140-155 (depending on the studio’s location) and include the following:

  • Skin analysis
  • Deep cleansing
  • Exfoliation
  • Facial massage
  • Extractions
  • Masking
  • Finishing steps (toner, serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, lip balm)
  • (Monthly Members, one monthly facial is included and any additional facials that month are priced at just $85!)

In addition to our standard facials, we also offer add-on treatments to boost your glow!

What is the age minimum to receive facials?

Children have delicate skin that's in a constant state of growth and flux. To keep young skin safe, we don't perform facials on anyone 14 years old or under, and recommend seeing a dermatologist for any serious skin issues. Anyone between the ages of 15 and 17 will need a parent or guardian to fill out and sign an intake form, either online before the appointment or in-person at your local Heyday. The parent or guardian does not need to stay for the duration of the facial.

When should I arrive for my facial?

We kindly ask that first-time clients arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled treatment time to check in, review your intake form answers, show you the studio and get you comfortable before youe customized facial. But we know things happen sometimes. If you're running late, please give us a heads up by calling the location you're booked at. We’ll do our best to accommodate you within 10 minutes of your appointment start time, by fitting you in for a shorter treatment. However, after 10 minutes, we will unfortunately not be able to start your service and you will incur a $25 cancellation fee.

Can I get a facial after having Botox or other skin procedures done?

Please reschedule your facial if you have had Botox, fillers, chemical peels, or a skin procedure such as microneedling, microblading, dermaplaning, laser resurfacing, or laser hair removal within 2 weeks prior to your appointment. During the few days beforehand, don't do any heavy exfoliation, peels, waxing, or other procedures. While we don't use steamers, beware that any false lashes or microbladed eyebrows can be affected by a facial.

What do/don't you treat?

We treat sensitization, inflammation, acne conditions like blackheads, papules, pustules, breakouts, pigmentation issues, signs of aging, dehydration, and seasonal skin changes and challenges. We do not extract milia (which requires a lancet) or anything that requires a dermatologist's medical opinion.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards. At this time, we are unable to support internal cards from outside of the U.S. or HSA debit cards, though we hope to be able to do so in the future!

What types of things are important to tell my Esthetician?

It's crucial to tell your Esthetician about your allergies, medications (both oral and topical), and health conditions—even if they don't seem like they'd have to do with your skin. We also ask that you let them know if you have recently had any procedures (i.e. fillers, botox), surgeries, or if you are or expect you might be pregnant.

Why don't you use steamers?

Our method of a steam compress (warm towel) with facial massage and oil pulling relaxes the pores and softens the skin so that we can perform extractions without causing damage to the skin. While a steam machine is a common practice to relax the sebum (oil) in pores, it can actually dry out the skin and cause it to clam up the moment the steamer is turned off. You can find more about this on our blog, here.

What gratuity is appropriate for a facial?

Just like other service industry experiences, 20-25% is considered an appropriate gratuity amount. But of course, if you'd like to leave some extra love for a stellar experience, you're very welcome to do so. We aim to have a streamlined checkout process, so you can leave your tip either in cash or on your card.

What happens if I forget to check out?

Although we aim to make our checkout process as streamlined as possible, we totally get that post-facial haze. If you forget to check out after your service, we'll process your credit card on file (or membership benefit).

Can I exercise, get lash extensions, and get back to my daily routine after a facial?

Our facials are very safe, so you'll be able to go right back to your activities. That being said, we don't recommend exercising immediately after facials in which you've received microdermabrasion or a peel.

Can I leave gratuity on a credit card?

Cash is preferred for gratuity, but don't sweat it if you don't have any on you. We accept gratuity on credit cards as well.

Can I wear makeup right after a facial?

Feel free to apply makeup after a facial, but we recommend being extra thorough with sanitation to avoid undoing any of the benefits from your recent facial. Clean makeup brushes are always your friend!

How should I care for my skin after a peel, microdermabrasion or Dermaplaning?

See here for peel and microderm aftercare.

See here for Dermaplaning.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive procedure using an instrument designed specifically for the treatment. The dermaplane tool is held at an angle to the skin to gently “scrape” away the outer layer of skin. This process removes all vellus hair and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin.

Will the hair on my face grow back darker and/or thicker after receiving Dermaplaning?

There are two types of hair: Vellus hair which is the fine, soft hair that grows on the face and other areas of the body. And Terminal hair is coarse, thick hair which grows on the head, underarms and groin area, along with male pattern facial hair.

Vellus hair will slowly grow back within the typical 4-6 week hair growth cycle. Terminal hair can also be found on the face of individuals with endocrine disorders such as PCOS or Endometriosis. Vellus hair cannot become Terminal from hair removal methods, but can be affected by hormones. It is not recommended to perform Dermaplaning over areas of Terminal hair growth.

*It is recommended that clients remove terminal hairs via tweezing, threading or waxing 1 week prior to receiving a dermaplaning treatment.

Can I pair Dermaplaning with other Heyday enhancements?

  • Gua Sha can be incorporated with Dermaplaning, helping to increase the glow achieved.
  • LED Light Therapy pairs with Dermaplane for a smooth, hydrated and dewey appearance to the skin.
  • Peels work hand-in-hand with Dermaplaning, and Dermaplaning can prepare the skin for a peel for elevated results. We recommend starting with an enzyme-based exfoliant after a Dermaplane service prior to including an Enhancement Peel. When pairing together, always perform Dermaplaning first.
  • Microcurrent can be incorporated with Dermaplaning helping to further target signs of aging
  • Nano Infusion: We do not recommend Nano Infusion with Dermaplaning since it can be over-stimulating and cause excess irritation when combining multiple forms of physical resurfacing.
  • Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion: We do not recommend any form of Microdermabrasion with Dermaplaning as they are both forms of physical exfoliation.
  • Hydro Wand Microdermabrasion: We do not recommend any form of Microdermabrasion with Dermaplaning as they are both forms of physical exfoliation.
  • Hydro Wand Infusion: Hydrowand Infusion is paired perfectly with Dermaplaning as the exfoliation will prep the skin for maximum absorption of actives.

What should I do to prep my skin before receiving Dermaplaning during my next facial?

Discontinue use of Retin-A or other exfoliating topical Rx for 3 days prior to treatment. Terminal hair can be removed through tweezing prior to dermaplaning treatment.

Is Dermaplaning safe for pregnant and/or breastfeeding people to receive?

While Dermaplaning is gentle, we avoid it on pregnant clients to prevent any potential for post-treatment complications. If there is an adverse incident, a pregnant client may be limited in which antibiotics or treatments would be prescribed. Because of this, we do not recommend Dermaplaning for pregnant and/or breastfeeding clients. We do offer plenty of pregnancy-safe facial alternatives, though! All you have to do is consult with your physician prior to your appointment and communicate with your ST who can help you find the best options.

How often should I be receiving Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning can be safely performed every 4 weeks in conjunction with their routine facial appointment.

What are the rules when it comes to hair removal and receiving a Laser Facial?

  • We love our Dermaplaning Enhancement and Laser Facials together—just not on the same day! Dermaplaning is an advanced form of exfoliation which puts the skin in a sensitive state, making it difficult to clearly assess your skin’s unique clinical endpoint - this limits the results achievable and can lead to adverse reactions on the skin
  • Since the laser energy is attracted to pigment in the hair - and therefore it will limit the effectiveness of the laser (beards and peach fuzz alike). We recommend shaving the day prior, dermaplaning 1-3 days prior, and waxing 1 week prior to your laser appointment.
  • Laser facials can result in the permanent reduction of hair on the face - if this is something that concerns you, please discuss with your Laser Specialist so they can develop the right treatment plan for you.

Can I receive the Laser Spot Treatment if I don’t receive the Laser Facial?

Right now, no. The Laser Spot Treatment is only available as an add-on enhancement to The Elite Laser Facial.

How should I care for my skin after the Laser Spot Treatment?

Follow the same protocol as you would for The Elite Laser Facial. (See above). In addition, be aware that it is normal for some pigmented areas to darken immediately after the Laser Spot Treatment. These areas will become rough to the touch and will fall off within 7-21 days.

Do not pick at the skin or exfoliate; this may cause further pigmentation and lessen desired results.

What will the Laser Facial feel like?

The main thing you will feel is a warming of the skin. This may be more pronounced in some areas where the skin is thinner, like on the forehead or the nose. This may also be more pronounced in areas with breakouts, hyperpigmentation, or hair growth.

At times you may feel the sensation of a snap or a spark when the laser travels over an area of pigmented hair, or peach fuzz.

Throughout the Laser Facial, your Laser Specialist will check in with you to ensure your experience is positive. The Laser Specialist will adjust settings as you go along in order to get to what we call the “clinical endpoint” of laser treatment. This is the point at which there is enough heat to invoke the photothermal response necessary for the best results.

Who cannot receive a Laser Facial?

You are not a candidate for a Laser Facial if…

…you are currently on any of the below medications or suffer from any of the below medical conditions:

  • Accutane usage within 6 months
  • Systemic steroid use
  • Recent use of antibiotics
  • Prescription anticoagulants
  • Immunosuppressant medications
  • Gold therapy (injection + oral)
  • Impaired immune system/response
  • Active inflammatory disorders (eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, dermatitis)
  • History of skin cancer
  • Lupus
  • Vitiligo
  • Seizure disorders
  • Pregnancy or trying to conceive (includes IVF)
  • Active Eczema/Psoriasis/Rosacea, Rash

…you have had any of the following treatments within the past two weeks:

  • Botox or fillers
  • Chemical Peels
  • Microblading
  • Microneedling

…or you have had recent sun exposure, tanning, or application of sunless tanning lotion within:

  • 1 week - you are not a candidate for a Laser facial (1064 nm)
  • 4 weeks - you are not a candidate for a Laser spot treatment (755 nm Alexandrite)

How many Laser Facials should I receive and how often?

Skin concerns can be addressed with optimal results in 4-8+ treatments, depending on your Fitzpatrick skin type. Your Laser Specialist will recommend the number of treatments based on your skin type.
We track your Skintel® reading and laser settings along with your skin response via our internal treatment records, which allows us to work progressively, safely, and effectively on your skin for maximum impact.

What is the Skintel® Melanin Reader™?

The Skintel® Melanin Reader™ provides a comprehensive reading of the melanin present in the skin to determine your Fitzpatrick skin type. Based on this reading, your Laser Specialist can calibrate settings for a safe and effective treatment.

What laser machine does Heyday use?

We use the Cynosure Elite IQ,  a dual-wavelength system to offer our two laser services. For the Heyday Laser Facial, we use the Elite IQ’s 1064 nm ND:YAG wavelength. For the Heyday Spot Treatment, our laser adjusts to the Alexandrite 755 nm wavelength.

How should I prepare my skin before a Laser Facial?

  • Discontinue use of any active exfoliants, Rx topicals, or ingredients such as retinol or benzoyl peroxide for a minimum of 1 week.
  • Avoid the use of sunless tanning lotions for a minimum of 1 week prior to your Laser Facial.
  • Avoid scheduling/receiving any cosmetic procedures such as botox, fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling, or microblading for at least 2 weeks prior.

Are results from a Heyday Laser Facial permanent?

It depends on the individual and the skin concern. Some skin conditions can be improved or resolved with laser treatments so that they do not return. Specifically, lesions treated with the Laser Spot Treatment are not likely to return. However, some skin conditions can reappear due to natural processes and outside influences. Your Laser Specialist will be able to advise how long results are expected to last based on skin type/conditions.

How should I care for my skin after a Laser Facial?

  • During the first few hours following your Laser Facial, you may experience tightness or redness. (It might feel like a mild sunburn). This normally subsides the same day of treatment.
  • You may notice that some pigmented areas have darkened, or have become rough to the touch. If so, avoid picking at the skin or exfoliating. These spots will fall off after about a week.
  • After your treatment, your skin will be more sensitive and delicate than usual. We recommend keeping your routine as simple as possible and treating your skin with some serious TLC.
  • Avoid swimming, hot yoga, sauna, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise for a minimum of 2-3 days following treatment, or until any redness or irritation has cleared.
  • Do not perform any hair removal to the treated areas for at least one week post-treatment.
  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and sunless tanning lotions throughout the course of your treatment. Use a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunblock (SPF 30 or greater) when exposed to the sun.
  • Avoid scheduling cosmetic procedures during the course of your overall treatment.
  • On the day of treatment, use a gentle, hydrating cleanser followed by a hydrating moisturizer. Your skin is still in a delicate space, so apply and remove all products as gently as possible.
  • For one week post-treatment, discontinue use of any exfoliating products, active ingredients such as Retinol, Vitamin C, Benzoyl Peroxide, or any other topical prescriptions on your bathroom shelf.
  • You can resume your regular skincare routine one week after treatment as long as there is no redness or irritation.
  • If there’s any swelling or redness, you can take acetaminophen.
  • If there is any sign of blistering or infection (tenderness or pus), please contact a physician immediately.

Who performs Laser Facials & what is their training?

The Estheticians who perform our Laser Facials and Laser Spot Treatment are our certified Laser Specialists. They receive training and certification in laser science and safety, are trained through our device manufacturer on all device protocols and Heyday protocols. Total training time for Laser Specialists is 25 hours.

What can I expect during the First Time Laser Facial appointment?

If you choose the First Time Laser Facial, you’ll begin by meeting your Heyday Laser Specialist. They will review your intake form, assess your skin, determine your Fitzpatrick type using The Skintel® Melanin Reader™, and do a single pass with the laser to see how your skin reacts. This includes a test patch of the 755 nm Alexandrite wavelength to see if you’re a candidate for the Laser Spot Treatment. Once this has been done, your specialist will come up with a personalized treatment plan. You will go home with detailed instructions that will outline your personalized treatment plan, as well as guidance for how to care for your skin post-treatment.

What’s the difference between The Elite Laser Facial and the Laser Spot Treatment?

The Elite Laser Facial uses the 1064 nm wavelength laser, which is suitable for all skin types and tones. This facial aims to provide total skin rejuvenation, passing over your entire face vs. isolated, targeted treatment. The Laser Spot Treatment is designed to target issues like hyperpigmentation, tone, texture, and signs of aging.

During a comprehensive consultation with your Laser Specialist, this service is completely customized based on the Skintel® Melanin Reader™ and your overall goals. Optimal results are achieved in 4-8 treatments spaced 3-6 weeks apart.

We accept all major credit and debit cards. At this time, we are unable to support internal cards from outside of the U.S. or HSA debit cards, though we hope to be able to do so in the future!

Gift Cards

How do I gift a facial (or multiple)?

Friend of the year status? Check. The best way to gift a facial is by purchasing a gift card. We offer both physical and digital gift cards which can both be used online and in-shop: check out our options here. Kindly note that gift cards are final sale and non-refundable.

Can I use a gift card for my membership payment?

Unfortunately, we do not accept gift cards for any membership payment as we require a valid credit or debit card for all recurring payments. Gift cards can instead be used toward additional facials, enhancements, and product purchases (in-store and online) and do not expire.

I have a gift card for a service you no longer offer, how can I redeem it?

Your gift card is still valid to use, and we'd love to you in for a facial! Your gift card can be applied as a dollar amount towards any facial or Enhancement. Any outstanding balance not covered by the gift card can be paid via credit card, or if you have extra value on your gift card, you can use it toward another facial! You may also use your gift card for enhancements, in-shop and online product purchases, and even gratuity.

Kindly note that we require a credit card when booking for security purposes, but no payment is collected at that time. After your appointment, your credit card will only be charged if there is a remaining balance after your gift card has been applied, or if we need to charge a no-show or late cancelation fee (we don't want that either!).

Simply bring your gift card or the code for it with you and we will apply it to your appointment. We hope to see you soon!

How can I redeem my gift card?

Both digital and physical gift cards can be redeemed online or in-shop for products and facials.

Do gift cards expire?

Gift cards do not expire and can be used online or in-shop!
