While twins Ali & Elizabeth may not share the exact same skin type, they do share a few other things when it comes to their skincare specifically.  “We share products all the time! We both have a similar skin type so we usually use the same products. We grew up sharing a room so my skincare products were her skincare products,” says Elizabeth.

After receiving a Heyday gift card from their friends for their birthday a few years ago, Ali and Elizabeth fell in love with Heyday and decided to become members. Per Ali’s recommendation, they both now see the same esthetician, Adriana H., every month. “We both love her and go to her religiously,” says Elizabeth.

Why did you join the Heyday Membership?

Ali: I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin and was starting to notice some fine lines so I wanted to get a handle on my skin in a holistic way. My esthetician at Heyday did such wonders on my skin in one session, and since I need a deep cleaning on a regular basis to help clear up my skin, I decided to join the membership. With the membership, I receive monthly facials while also getting rewarded with great deals and discounts.

Elizabeth: I love taking care of my skin and usually get facials once a month, so the Heyday membership made sense since you pay on a monthly basis and get discounts on products.

"I also love how all the products that Heyday offers use clean ingredients, as well as the amazing estheticians, fair prices, and convenient locations. What's not to love!"

What’s a favorite tip that you have learned from your esthetician?

Ali: To not be so harsh on your skin. Even though my skin is acne-prone and sensitive, it’s important that I moisturize and do not dry it out with harsh products. Also, a simple skincare routine is best. Find products that target something specific, do not overload.

Elizabeth: Not to over-exfoliate! My skin is prone to breakouts and exfoliating too often can strip your skin of natural oils which can lead to more breakouts.

Which Heyday products do you use in your routine?

Ali:

Routine notes: I use the Cleansing Oil when I wear makeup, the Hyper Vitamin C Serum every other night, and the Alchimie Moisture Mask two times per week!

Elizabeth:

What’s your go-to, holy grail skincare product that you can’t live without?

Ali: I cannot live without the Alchimie Forever Kantic Brightening Moisture Mask. It targets dehydration and inflammation and makes your skin noticeably brighter and smoother after one use.

Elizabeth: I'm obsessed with hydrating toners and serums since my skin can get dehydrated. My absolute favorite serum is the Image Skincare Ageless Total Pure Hyaluronic-6 Filler and my fave toner is the Naturopathica Lavender & Honey Balancing Mist. These products keep my face hydrated and I love the scent of the balancing mist.

Why is taking care of your skin important to you?

Ali: Taking care of my skin is extremely important to me because it helps me to feel great from the inside-out. My skin is a reflection of me and being kind to my skin is a form of self-care. Your skin is also essential to your general health like drinking water, exercising, and eating nutritious food (and I love french fries and pizza, too!). It all adds up to a healthier, happier you.

Elizabeth: I have loved taking care of my skin ever since middle school. My mom is very invested in her skin and instilled that in me at a young age. I feel my best when my skin also is looking its best. It's also a great way to invest in yourself and unwind at the end of the day.

When do you feel most comfortable in your own skin?

Ali: I feel most confident and comfortable in my own skin when I am both mentally and physically in a good place. My head is clear, I am not anxious, I am practicing patience and self-awareness, and my skin is clear and glowing.

"Although I do get a few breakouts from time to time, it’s important to be kind to yourself and not beat yourself up. You are beautiful regardless of a few measly pimples, life goes on. Just like you need to be kind to your skin, you need to be kind to yourself as well."

Elizabeth: I feel most confident and at home in my skin when I'm taking care of myself from the inside out. Whether it be eating right, exercising, keeping up with my skincare routine, or taking time for myself—when I'm happiest is when I feel the most confident.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Ali: Live in the moment and be happy with who you are currently. Do not always look ahead and wish to be older, different, or better than who you are currently. You are learning and growing. Life goes super fast, so enjoy being young and going through the different stages in your life.

Elizabeth: Live in the moment and enjoy being young! I grew up with four older brothers so I always wanted to be older, but there are so many amazing experiences to be had when you are a kid.

What in your life are you most grateful for?

Ali: I am most grateful for my twin sister, Elizabeth. We were the youngest of six growing up (we have four older brothers) and it was so amazing to have someone that is always there for you no matter what. Even though we sometimes take each for granted, we both know that we would do anything for each other. It’s so nice to know that there is someone who completely understands you.

Do you, a friend, or family member have a side project or initiative that you’d like more people to know about?

Elizabeth: Yes! I am a co-founder of Kyle Cavan, a college/commemorative jewelry company founded by my sister-in-law, Kyle Garcia. We are a woman-owned company that was started out of Kyle's apartment and now have collections for over 100 college and Greek organizations and counting. We are aiming to reimagine the college jewelry space and are designing pieces that serve as a reminder of your accomplishments—big and small.
